Abstract

This chapter concentrâtes on issues concerning women’s autonomy and societal images of women. These two arenas highlight the gendered aspects of everyday life in terms of the control of women’s bodies coupled with societal images of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ women in the context of certain social and political attitudes within Hungarian society. As has been noted, cultural change in Hungary is very slow and certainly control of the media and educational propaganda is something which does not seem to be open to less-gendered approaches in the early 1990s.
