Critical psychology

Abstract

Like Marxism, psychology is one of the grand metanarratives of modernity, often claiming for itself universal generalizations. However, while the response of psychologists to the issues raised by Ideology and Consciousness was slower than that in the rest of the social sciences, many psychologists nevertheless took seriously the issues raised, resulting in a wide variety of critical psychologies that draw upon various attempts to work on discourse.
