Abstract
When selecting a cell line for the production of a recombinant antibody it is important to assess the suitability of a cell line for the manufacturing process. Any assessment will include examining how the productivity of the cell line changes with increasing population doublings, as this is linked to process robustness and economics. The hypothesis that loss of productivity within antibody producing cell lines is due only to the outgrowth of a low-producer sub-population, with a higher specific growth rate than the high-producer subpopulation, was tested.
