Abstract
Terminology, definitions and symbols for particle characterization widely vary in different countries and fields of application. Therefore, definitions and symbols used in this book are summarized in this chapter. Moreover, the reader is strongly advised to check whether the definitions and symbols used in his or her country and field of application agree with the ones used here and in other literature.
