Abstract

Reactions of neutral vanadium oxide clusters with (1) methanol, ethanol, (2) alkenes, and (3) NOx and NH3, in a flow tube reactor, are investigated by time of flight mass spectroscopy experiments and density functional theory (DFT). Single photon ionization through using a compact soft x-ray (46.9 nm, 26.5 eV) laser is employed to detect both neutral cluster distributions and reaction products. Results and insights to catalytic processes are presented.
