Abstract

This chapter provides an introduction to the database language Structured Query Language, or SQL for short. This language is used primarily to formulate instructions to a database system, including queries and commands to change or delete database objects. The most important of these commands are SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE, and these are the main attractions in this chapter, which aims to instruct in large part by presenting many examples.
