Abstract
The stable maintenance and expression of exogenous DNA molecules Introduced into mammalian cells is dependent on either their integration into the host cell chromosomes or their episomal maintenance. Episomal maintenance Is dependent on the presence of cis-acting autonomously replicating sequences (ARS), and the transacting factors which interact with this sequence.
