Mathematical Model Established and the Fast Calculation of Sensitivity Field-Based Electrical Capacitance Tomography for the Traditional Extraction of Chinese Medicine

Abstract

The traditional extraction of Chinese medicine is a typical multiphase flow process. By applying traditional methods, it is difficult to detect temperature of container, distribution of materials, saturation, and other parameters, and if the result is not accurate, it will lead to low efficiency. In this chapter, Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) technology is applied to the extraction of Chinese medicine. Natural salvia miltiorrhiza and organic solvent ethanol are studied as objects, the dynamic countercurrent circulation extraction technique is adopted, and a new method to compute capacitance values is put forward. Furthermore, an improved mathematical model is built to refine the length of the finite element unit and to calculate capacitance values rapidly. The computed values are consistent with the actual physical model, and in the last part of this chapter, the effect of variation of the two-phase flow on extraction efficiency is analyzed.
