Abstract
The evaluation of MT and MAT systems is an important issue which has received considerable attention. There are many reasons for evaluating MT software. For example, one might want to decide whether the quality of the output is sufficiently high for a particular purpose, or one might wish to determine the savings (or costs) arising from using a particular system.
Strategies for assessing the translation quality of a system as well as its cost-effectiveness are given.
