Abstract
The contributions of this book provide a survey on a wide field of research from various viewpoints: engineering design processes in their diversity are investigated with different aims and methods and therefore with a great variety of results. This variety of engineering design in practice and research is encouraging because it illustrates the importance of engineering design research; however, it is becoming more and more difficult to explore and to compare the multifarious results of empirical and theoretical design research.
