Abstract

In this chapter, discussion will revolve around the vasculitides which specifically affect the lung, or in which there is major lung involvement. Since several of them also have a granulomatous component, the angiitides and granulomatoses may be considered to be one group. Their diagnosis is a problem for the clinician in a patient presenting with multiple nodules or infiltrates in the lung, with or without systemic involvement and for the pathologist who must make a diagnosis on a histological section of the lung. Close collaboration between these two physicians is required to arrive at the specific diagnosis upon which therapy depends so heavily.
