Abstract

The patient presented with a long-standing philtral deformity characterized by (1) a deep Tennison-type scar crossing the center of the philtrum, (2) a retrusive upper lip, (3) mild transverse tightness, and (4) single arc of vermilion, lacking any cupid’s bow (the “chapeau de gendarme” lip). Also complicating the lip abnormalities were an angle class III malocclusion, maxillary insufficiency, missing central and lateral incisors, nasal septal deviation, an oronasal fistula, a vertically short lower lip, an acute labiomental crease, and pseudoprognathism.
