Abstract
Grinding processes differ enough from cutting processes that they should be treated in a separate chapter. Whole books have been written on grinding, [KinHah86] and [Malkin89] are recent examples, and they should be consulted for more technical and practical details. This chapter will concentrate on the basics of grinding for the analysis that goes into process planning, and will compare and contrast grinding with cutting.
