Abstract
We have developed and implemented an integrated computational method for understanding natural language. Within this scheme, we have developed and implemented an integrated set of techniques for ellipsis resolution, comprehension of multiple sentence utterances, natural language generation, noun phrase reference resolution, knowledge base access, and error detection and correction. We have also developed an analytical taxonomy of intersentential ellipsis, based on the types of processing necessary to interpret these ellipses.
