Abstract

A stressed person is one in whom the normal physiology is displaced by a disturbance of homeostasis which may lead to pathology. When the body reacts to threat, the anterior pituitary gland secretes adrenocorticotrophic hormones, which in turn stimulate the thyroid gland to release thyroine and the medullae of the adrenal glands to secrete norepinephrine and epinephrine into the blood stream.
