Abstract
This clearly unique ear has been termed “mini” because that is the impression when viewed from a distance. Although the profile is nicely shaped, and the periphery is well defined by a helix and lobule, the whole ear is abnormally small (only about two-thirds normal length) and definitely a microtia. On approaching the ear, the halo appears harmonious, albeit small, but suddenly the core is wrong. When attention is concentrated on the core, it is immediately obvious that this is a very severe deformity, with gross lack of every finer formation and complete auricular atresia.
