Abstract

In this section, you have the opportunity to begin looking at and seeking to understand yourself as a health and social services practitioner. Health and social services work is very personal work. You take your beliefs, values, attitudes, life history, previous experiences, cherished theories—in other words, all of you—to every aspect of and setting for your practice. “Wherever you go, there you are!” (Elsdon, 1998).
