Abstract
The Internet is a global network of computers communicating with each other, using a variety of protocols, and supporting an even larger variety of possible services [Rajkumar99] (electronic mail, world wide web, etc.). There is a lot of analogy between the Internet and the classical telephone network. Of course, one has to be careful with analogies [Markus99].
