Abstract

In the first session, riding the longing of the patient is only sensible if it is balanced by a sharp outlook for dangerous turns. The first look will be ahead for a drift or a fall from the present position. Where will the slope of the patient’s fall take him?

The … [doctor] … during this period may be compared to a traveler standing on top a hill overlooking the country through which he is about to journey. Alexander and French, 1946, p. 109
