Abstract
The phrase “free form fabrication” describes a growing number of technologies and processes that will fabricate a part of any geometry directly from a solid CAD model without any tools, fixtures, or human intervention. The technology first became commercially available in the latter part of the 1980s with the appearance of “stereolithography” machines. Since that time, a number of other machines and processes have appeared.
