Abstract

The aim of the present work was to establish morphological markers for the functional differentiation of Leydig cells in rat in order to study the origin, development and maturation of these cells. Two different populations of Leydig cells can be observed in the rat testis from embryonic period till adulthood (Lording and de Kretser, 1972, Koupio et al. 1989; Teerds, 1989; Haider et al. 1986, 1995, Majdic et al. 1995)): 1. Fetal-Type Ley-dig cells (FTLC). 2. Adult-Type Leydig Cells (ATLC). Here is a summary of our results.
