Abstract
The article introduces an analysis of the development of Management Information Systems (MIS) in Poland from the first years after World War II until present. Our analysis is divided into three parts. First we consider information on specifics of the development of information systems (IS) in Poland. The IS market in Poland is described next. We show research results for Polish market in the dynamic’s growth of software production, the most frequently used technology and the use of operating systems. We also analyze the nature of demand among users in Poland. In the third part the authors discuss evolution of MIS in the Polish market. In this part basic rules for choosing IS by Polish end users are specified.
