Dynamics of Pesticide Residues in the Environment

  • Chapter
Environmental Pollution by Pesticides

Part of the book series: Environmental Science Research ((ESRH,volume 3))

Abstract

Residues of pesticides or their degradation products have been reported in a wide variety of environmental samples. The concentrations of compounds of one particular group of pesticides, the organochlorine insecticides, have been extensively and intensively studied in recent years, and the results are summarised in other chapters in this book. The apparent ubiquity of the organochlorine compounds has rightly caused concern about any effects that may be occurring currently, or future effects that may arise from their continued use.
