Abstract
The “Bonner Astronomisches Bildrechner System”, BABSY (Steffen et al., 1983), was planned as a system based on software exchange in order to minimize costs, man power, and installation time. This idea determined the hardware configuration of the system; considering its main components it is similar to a STARLINK node (VAX 11-780 plus SIGMA ARGS image display).
