Abstract

We have considered the nature of the bulk of the eukaryotic genome. It consists of DNA complexed with histones in nucleosomal configuration. This bulk is not transcribed into RNA. What is the nature and structure of that portion of the genome which is transcribed? Several methods for separation of transcribed from non-transcribed portions of the genome have been described. Some of these are commented upon below.
