Abstract

Anomalous light scattering is observed at the solid-liquid interfaces of growing crystals. Two models for the description of the phenomena are under discussion: 1.) Light is scattered by continuous fluctuations in a mesophase layer; 2.) Light is scatterd by gas bubbles in front of the growing crystal. In this paper it is shown that the bubbles model is not compatible with the experiment. The model with continuous fluctuations is compatible with the experimental results.
