Abstract

Nearly all grains are stored before they are finally processed and consumed. The storage period may be for a few weeks or up to a year or more, on the farm or at marketing and shipping points. Inadequate storage and conditioning facilities, or their complete absence, contribute to substantial losses every year in the United States as well as in other countries throughout the world.
