Abstract

In recent years a number of DNA-binding proteins have been reported to occur in organisms ranging from viruses (3,9) and bacteria (1), to flowering plants and mammals (4,6,7,10). In the case of the gene-32 protein whose function has been closely studied the importance of its biological role has been clearly established. Thus, in T4 infected bacterial cells, 32-T4 mutants are deficient in both replication and recombination (2).
