Abstract

In the design of specialized cryogenic equipment, space and flexibility limitations often exclude use of standard types of instrumentation for measurement of temperature, pressure, volume and other thermodynamic properties. The change in resistance of carbon as a function of temperature was used to enable measurements of temperature and liquid level at 20° K. Calibration of several carbon resistors provided data to interpret the experimental results.
