Abstract
The pharmacokinetics of antibiotics are often studied by means of microbiological assays. However this is subject to some uncertainty if the drug is metabolized to species having a different spectrum of antimicrobial activity compared with the parent. For basic pharmacokinetic work therefore it is desirable to use a method which separates parent drug from active metabolites and preferably quantitates the metabolites in addition.
