Abstract
We turn from Freud’s theory of dream instigation to his interpretations of dream content as reflecting our emotional life. Here REMS studies offer fascinating examples of the power of emotional stimuli to invade dream content, and of the usefulness of Freud’s translations of dream language into underlying affective content.
