Abstract

Early in 1973 the Energy Systems Program of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA-ENP) started a longrange, globally comprehensive energy study whose scope, methods and results have been extensively documented in its recently published report*. A global picture emerged by composing the results obtained for seven regions in which the world was divided. Four of them were formed by aggregation of less developed countries (LDCs); one of the developing regions is Latin America.
