Abstract

The thermodynamics of anharmonic crystals is an old subject1. Nevertheless, its study is strongly limited by the complexity of the available methods. For instance, direct quantum mechanical calculations involve the evaluation of very complicated integrals over wavevectors, which are of practical use only in particular limits1 (low dimensionality and low-, high-temperature). Here we put forward a different approach.
