Some Uses of Tritium-Labeled Compounds in Pharmaceutical Research

  • Chapter
Advances in Tracer Methodology

Abstract

Some of the basic problems in medical research involve studies of the absorption, translocation, “mode of action” and excretion of drugs. A pharmaceutical firm producing products for the medical profession is heavily concerned with the detailed biochemistry of its products. As criteria for acceptance and rejection of drugs become more refined, more energy will be expended in studying the precise biochemical handling of drugs. Important tools for such studies are labeled drugs and labeled metabolites.

Presented at the First Symposium on Tritium in Tracer Applications, 1957.
