Abstract

There are three basic materials handling principles that underlie the concept of unitization. They are:

  1. 1.

For maximum economy, handle units as large as can be practically lifted and moved.

  2. 2.

Materials should be handled as few times as possible.

  3. 3.

Mechanical equipment should replace manual labor wherever possible.
