Pathologic Factors Involved in Infertility

  • Chapter
Pathology of the Female Genital Tract

Abstract

This account is concerned only with the factors involved in female infertility, hence, it presents a onesided view of a complex problem, for in only one-quarter of couples who fail to conceive does the fault lie solely with the female partner. In order that this account not be even more one-dimensional and incomplete, it is also necessary to venture outside the genital tract, because in recent years much light has been shed on the etiology of female infertility through our having gained a greater insight into those disorders of the hypothalamus and pituitary that may impair female reproductive capacity.
