Grain Composition of Amaranthaceae and Chenopodiaceae Species

Abstract

The global demand for more food and industrial raw material produced by agriculture prescribes the optimal utilization of every potential plant resource. Several Amaranthaceae species are C4-species and adapted to hot climates. Many Chenopodiaceae species are adapted to growth on dry and saline soils, and may be UV-B-tolerant. The plant species are considered as potential new crops for food and industrial raw materials.
