Abstract
Propagation behavior of ultrasonic waves in solids has been extensively studied, because they can provide powerful tools for the nondestructive characterization of materials. The principal advantage is the capability of probing inside of solid materials, making a contrast with other techniques like the optical methods, X-ray diffraction, and the magnetic-testing methods, which are applicable to sensing the surface or near-surface region.
