Abstract

Small-scale helicopters have the same basic configuration as their full-scale counterparts. However, because scale operates on the various physical dimensions in different ways, scaling down a helicopter will change the relative magnitude of the main forces governing the vehicle dynamics and thus modify its dynamic characteristics. For the pilot, scaling down a helicopter tends to make it more difficult to control; the stabilizer bar is used to compensate for these scaling effects.
