Abstract
Within the scope of this book a methodology supporting the efficient design of ASIPs has been presented: the LISA processor design platform (LPDP). The design of ASIPs is a long, tedious, and error-prone task consisting of four design phases — architecture exploration, architecture implementation, application software design, and system integration and verification. Without automation and a unified environment, the future design of such ASIPs is limited to very few semiconductor companies which have expertise in each of the above mentioned fields.
