Abstract

In Chapter Two, we considered how to utilize developmental concepts in the diagnostic evaluation of children. Now let us extend the discussion of diagnostic procedures to the adult, once again focusing on the influence of developmental thinking. Many of the concepts in this chapter are elaborations of ones first presented in Chapter 11 of Adult Development (Colarusso & Nemiroff, 1981). In addition to the example of a completed diagnostic workup presented at the end of this chapter, other examples on adults of various ages may be found in Chapters 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 in The Race against Time (Nemiroff & Colarusso, 1985).
