Deploying Raspberry Pi in the Classroom

Abstract

In this chapter, I make sure you know the essentials of using and configuring a Raspberry Pi computer. We’ll begin with startup, shutdown, and restart; move along to other actions you can take from the login screen; and then meet the desktop and its components. From there, we’ll look at how to configure your pointing device, keyboard, and network connection; work with the wide-ranging Raspberry Pi Configuration tool; and then examine how to configure and navigate the desktop. Toward the end of the chapter, I’ll show you how to explore the file system using the File Manager app and how to configure File Manager to suit the way you prefer to work.
