Abstract
Taurine is ubiquitous in animals. In mammals, numerous taurine-dependent phenomena have been described (Table 1). The increasing intensity of interest in this simple but recalcitrant compound is indicated by the various symposia on taurine and the monographs published on it within the last 15 years (5,6,17,18,19,20,24,32,38,44).
