Abstract
The testes are oblong solid structures located in the scrotum. Each testis is an independent unit, performing two closely interrelated functions, androgen production and spermatogenesis. The testes measure 3.5 to 5 cm in their longest diameter. The embryology of testicular development is discussed in Chapter 42.
