Abstract
Photochromism is the phenomenon whereby the absorption spectrum of a molecule or crystal changes reversibly when the sample is irradiated by light of certain wavelengths. A colorless compound A, for instance, changes its molecular structure to a quasi-stable colored structure B when irradiated by ultraviolet (UV) light; B can be returned to the colorless structure A by exposure to visible light or heating.
