Abstract

Animal and vegetable cells contain a great number of different components: deoxyribonucleic acids (DNA), ribonucleic acids (RNA), proteins, lipids, nucleotides, amino acids, carbohydrates, inorganic ions, and water (Table 29-1). The components consist of either only one kind of molecule such as the DNA and the rRNA, or they consist of a very large number of different molecules such as tRNA, mRNA, proteins, etc.
