Abstract
In this book we have sought to describe the diversity of the experience of old age in modern society. Factors such as age, gender and social class have been shown to have a marked influence upon the experience of later life. In this chapter we shall consider some of the main issues which now confront the position and status of older people. Finally we shall conclude with an examination of the politics of ageing in Great Britain.
