Behavioural paediatrics and childhood cancer

  • Chapter
Health Psychology

Abstract

This chapter gives an initial definition and overview of behavioural paediatrics. This is not an attempt at an exhaustive review but rather a ‘taster’ of some of the key topics, such as anxiety, therapeutic adherence, pain management and preparation for hospital. This is followed by an in-depth look at paediatric cancer which will illustrate some of the approaches used.
