Positron Studies of Inert Gases in Metals

  • Chapter
Fundamental Aspects of Inert Gases in Solids

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((NSSB,volume 279))

Abstract

A review is given of recent advances in the application of positron techniques to study metals implanted with inert gas atoms. The article focuses on how to use positron experimental methods to determine properties of defects, such as the density of inert gas inside inert gas bubbles. Recent theoretical models are described and a number of examples of experimental studies with both the ‘conventional’ positron techniques, such as positron lifetime spectroscopy, and positron beam techniques are given.
