Abstract
As we have heard today the AMDP-System was founded in 1965 by a group of psychiatrists from Germany, Switzerland, and Austria in order to develop a uniform system for the documentation of information to be useful in both clinical practice and in research. Whereas the earliest version emphasized the medical-biological viewpoints, the more recent versions have comprised sociological and demographic variables. The system has proven useful and has later been translated into a number of languages with the Scandinavian Adaptation as the last version.
